Her Campus is the leading digital magazine for college women, run by college women. However, the University of Oklahoma’s chapter faced a significant challenge. Their presence was relatively unknown among college students, and their articles weren’t gaining the readership they deserved. To address this issue, Her Campus Oklahoma sought to effectively engage the campus community and drive traffic to their articles through a strategic approach to Instagram.
The
strategy
To address this issue, I initiated a comprehensive Instagram audit, analyzing what content had successfully driven traffic to articles and garnered high engagement. The solution became evident – Her Campus Oklahoma’s social strategy needed to shift its focus to the women and students on campus.
The strategy kicked off by establishing connections with other women-led organizations on campus, curating content from these groups, and sharing it on our Instagram account. We took the initiative to tag and actively engage with students on our platform, fostering a relationship between the chapter and campus.
The
results
This approach led to a significant upswing in both engagement and followers. As our content resonated within the campus community, students began actively interacting with Her Campus Oklahoma, resulting in a substantial increase in readership of our articles.
